History

Gautam High School was established by Sri T. Narayana Swamy Naidu, in 1988 at Y.M.R Colony, Proddatur. The institution was inaugurated by the, then District collector, Kadapa Smt. Chandana Khan on 26th May 1988. Late Sriman Puttaparthy Narayanacharyulu, the great Telugu poet. Sri G.R. Reddy, the then Income Tax Commissioner, Bangalore and Sri. Narala Rama Reddy, Sathavadhani, Proddatur were the special invitees.

The institution began with 76 students, 11 staff members, 6th to 9th classes in Telugu Medium and 6th & 7th classes in English Medium. Strength has increased year after year and developed as the best institution in the district. Computer lab with 40 computers was established in 1997 to impart computer knowledge. Computer lab was inaugurated by the then District Collector, Kadapa Sri B.Nagi Reddy and Sri G.R. Reddy, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Hyderabad.

In 2001 New Block of Class Rooms was constructed and the same was inaugurated by Sri K. Bala Veera Reddy, the then Vice Chancellor of Visweswaraiah Technological University, Bangalore. To cater the needs of primary students Gautam Sprouts, Nursery to 3rd class, was established in 2003.

IIT Foundation classes, for 8th to 10th students, were also started, to develop competitive skills among the students, from June 2006. First Batch of students appeared for IIT JEE, 2011 Entrance Examination and 4 students got good ranks and selected kharagpur, Rourkee and Banaras colleges. 20 students appered IIT JEE – 2012 and AIEEE Examinations. 4 students got selected for IIT and 12 students got AIEEE seats.
